FEBRUARY 3-10, 2024
Seven Days of Local Delights is an annual week of celebrating our vibrant local food system. The week is filled with events and workshops on topics ranging from cooking classes to raised bed gardening demos.
Local restaurants feature "Red Hills Specials" throughout the week featuring local produce and meats from your Red Hills Small Farm Alliance producers!
We also had an exclusive Farm to Table Lunch with Chef Keith at Kool Beanz with a packed menu of seasonal offerings from our farmers, ranchers and producers on Saturday, Feb. 10.
It is a fun-filled educational week for everyone!

Tallahassee Farmers Market Tour
with The Prepared Table
Join Amy and Robin from The Prepared Table on an exploration of the Tallahassee Farmer's Market—an experience designed for those curious about embracing the beauty of local produce.
In this immersive tour, Amy will be your guide as she introduces you to the dedicated local farmers and producers who bring fresh, high-quality ingredients to our tables. Gain insights into their growing practices and discover the stories behind the vibrant produce that graces the market stalls. Included in the cost is an adorable market tote and breakfast at Ology!

Cooking Cane Syrup with Turkey Hill Farm
SUNNY DAY ONLY!
Watch Farmer Herman work the magic. From grass stalk to pancake syrup in about 5 hours. Juicing will begin at 10, cooking begins about noon, and syrup goes in the bottle about 3.

Chef's Table Cooking Class - Cooking with a Local Harvest with KitchenAble
Join us for a seasonal food centered cooking demo by Chef Jessica at the KitchenAble Cooking School. Our four-course meal will feature fresh seafood, wild game, and seasonal produce- all sourced within our 100-mile radius, including a fresh seasonal salad, Torched (farm raised) local oysters, wild venison sausage rolls (with our heirloom pepper sauce), and a citrus pavlova- made with local free-range eggs, local tupelo honey, and kumquats from our own trees. The exact menu will be based on the absolute freshest ingredients we find at the RHO Market this week!

Tomato Growing Workshop with Native Nurseries
Homegrown tomatoes have incredible flavor! Join co-owner Joe Walthall to learn everything you need to know to grow delectable tomatoes in your garden.

Join us for a fun night at Poco Vino learning more about the delicious cheeses from Jessica Little, co-owner of Sweet Grass Dairy! Jessica will share the story of how Sweet Grass Dairy grew from a local creamery to an internationally renowned, award-winning brand. We will explore a selection of their signature cheeses and learn how to pick the perfect wine pairings.

Raised Bed Gardening with UF/IFAS
Join us for Raised Bed Gardening 101 with UF/IFAS Leon County Extension Agents Molly Jameson and Mark Tancig. They will talk about choosing the best location for your raised bed, the basics of irrigation, planting dates and plant spacing, the difference between treated and untreated lumber, how much and what type of soil to use, and give tips for growing vegetables.

Legacy Greens Farm Tours
Gather up the family and friends and come learn about the Legacy Greens world of microgreens, hydroponics, and taste some of our greens! The purchase of a ticket will include a tour of our operation, hydroponics discussion, 1 microgreens grow kit, and a small box of greens.

Farm to Table Lunch at Kool Beanz
RSVP today for this limited seating Chef's Lunch with Kool Beanz's own Chef Keith! The menu will feature fresh local meats, produce and more from local farmers and producers.

This lunch is a fundraiser for the Red Hills Small Farm Alliance and will help fund farmer education, community outreach programs and more!

Edible Landscapes at Treehouse Permaculture
Join Henry and Burgen of Treehouse Permaculture for a hands on food landscape workshop on their urban farm. This workshop will cover topics such as native plant selection, wildlife and pest management, fruiting tree planting and long term care, and more. Treehouse is passionate about supporting sustainable food systems through region specific education and hands on workshops. This workshop is geared towards community members of all ages interested in incorporating food into their residential and community landscapes.

Intro to Sourdough
An introduction to baking with natural leaven with Betsey Brown, Longview Farms, and Louise Divine, Turkey Hill Farm! Flour, water, and salt provide the simple foundation. We’ll cover building and maintaining a starter, how to use different kinds of flour, fermentation, shaping, and baking. Bring your questions. This beginning class will give you the boost you need to get started. You’ll take home a jar of starter and some easy recipes.
